Buying Strathwood Falkner Chaise Lounge
I did a lot of research when looking for the right furniture. I love the looks of these chaises, and plan to order many more pieces from the Strathwood collection. It is extremely sturdy and the dark brown metal color is great. You can fold the chaise all the way flat on these by folding the arm under the frame. In fact, it goes a slight angle more than flat which is better for my back. My husband doesn’t like this position and so puts a large diameter pool noodle under reclining part of the chaise so it’s at the perfect angle for him (very easy modification.) The only thing I don’t like is the cheap upholstery. The cushions are nice, dense and thick, but the fabric isn’t a quality fabric. I suspected this before I bought them though. I am an interior designer, so am planning to buy a whole bolt of taupe sunbrella fabric and have them all recovered at the end of this season. Fortunately, I have some other clients that need the same type of work done so this is going to cost me nothing. For the reasonable price of these frames, the comfort level of the cushions, and for a look that is going to be comparable to “Frontgate” - I think they are well worth the price. If you know a good upholsterer and can get the fabric you want, it’s not difficult to make these pieces into the showpieces they really are. If this furniture is going on a lanai or a covered deck, the color might not really be that must of an problem for some people. My issue was more with the quality of the material used. I ordered and then, after reading the bad reviews, tried to cancel. I am so glad I did not cancel. My table arrive in 3 days, took me 10 minutes to put together and I love it! I would recommend it to all. Sturdy, well-made and looks great on my porch. I hope it will stand the test of time. I will take care to oil every season to keep the color tone the same. I ordered 4 of these chairs. They were delivered right on time for my upcoming BBQ. They were very easy for me, a young 5’ woman, to assemble. The only thing I can think of that might not be so awesome is that three of the dowels supplied for assembly didn’t quite end up flush with the holes, but they were very easy to shave off with just a box-cutter. The material is very good quality. I have no worries of getting splinters when I jump on and off of them. Like I said I’m 5’ so it takes some effort for me to get on and off of them, but they are very sturdy & stable for climbing on. I wouldn’t even be nervous to stand on these as a ladder to reach things up high. I bought this coffee table along with the Strathwood three-seat patio sofa, and I am very happy with it. It arrived already assembled and in perfect condition and QUICKLY. I think it was two days between ordering it and its arrival (sofa took longer). The table takes up a lot of space, though, and I wish I’d done a better job measuring our porch for it. It fits, but it cuts it close. I also wish the corners were more curved. They’re 90 degree angles and kind of sharp. We got it so we could entertain our extended family outside, and that family includes a lot of little kids. We bought foam “bumpers” for the corners when they’re over, and they look awful, but I’m nervous about one of the kids falling and hurting him/herself on the sharp corners.
